As an economics nerd, there is nothing I enjoy more than the Federal Reserve Chairman testifying in front of Congress. Okay, maybe there are things I enjoy more — many, in fact — but nevertheless the questioning does make for interesting television.
Today, Ben Bernanke spoke to the House Committee on Financial Services.
The ordeal is entertaining mostly because of the questioning. The Republicans stand up and opine about the strength of the economy while the Democrats complain that the economy is not as good as advertised. Each side uses the statistics that help their claims and they proceed to take shots at each other throughout the session. All the while Bernanke has to sit there and pretend that they are asking questions.
I have been a little under the weather today, but when I can get my hands on a transcript, I would like to post some of the questions that they ask because they are so amusing. If anyone knows where the best place to find the transcript is, please send the link here.
