I’ve been meaning to pick up Gorton’s “Misunderstanding Financial Crises”, as I am predisposed to the notion that crises are endemic to the type of money that we use. And, of course, that financial crises are not at all rare (which is objectively true).
Hmm…half of my comment got cut off. In any case, I wonder about Gorton’s framework for identifying financial crises. The summary of the book references a “quiet period” in the US from 1934 to 2007…but of course there were crises within that period.
